Discover advanced SiC wafers designed for large-aperture optical reflectors, offering superior thermal stability, lightweight design, and ultra-smooth...
Product Description:

SiC wafers are revolutionizing the field of large-aperture optical reflectors, offering unmatched performance in aerospace, astronomical telescopes, and advanced imaging systems. HMT as the leading SiC substrate supplier, manufacturing 4H-N & 4H-SI type including 50.8mm 100mm 150mm and 200mm diameters SiC substrate wafer.Engineered for extreme environments, these wafers combine lightweight design with exceptional mechanical and thermal properties, making them ideal for high-precision applications.

The application of silicon carbide (SiC) in large-aperture optical reflectors mainly benefits from its high specific stiffness, excellent thermal stability and wide spectral response, making it a core material in fields such as space observation and deep space exploration. The following are the key application advancements and technological breakthroughs:

SiC Material Advantages

1. Lightweight and high rigidity: The specific rigidity of SiC is four times that of traditional glass, and its weight is only a quarter under the same diameter, making it suitable for the weight reduction requirements of spacecraft.

2. Thermal stability: The thermal conductivity is two orders of magnitude higher than that of glass, significantly reducing the difficulty of temperature control and adapting to the extreme temperature difference environment in space.

3. Optical performance: After surface coating, the reflectivity in the visible light to infrared bands exceeds 95%, meeting the requirements of high-resolution imaging.

Traditional large-aperture mirrors mostly use microcrystalline or quartz glass. Here, the relevant characteristics of SiC are compared with those of microcrystalline glass and quartz glass. The differences can be more intuitively felt through the data, as shown below:
